The book brings together a selection of seminal texts by architect, designer, architectural historian, and conservationist Aleksander Laslo, devoted to Zagreb’s architecture and urban planning from the late 19th and first half of the 20th century. Gathered for the first time, they represent a kind of synthesis of his lifelong research into modernization processes, the introduction of new planning, spatial, constructive and design concepts into theoretical discourse and architectural production, both in Zagreb and Croatia. Since Laslo’s texts address the core of Zagreb’s architectural heritage, which is irrevarsibly disappearing, the book aims to contribute to its better knowledge and understanding and to reach a brought readership, involving students, researchers and experts, especially those involved in the reconstruction of central Zagreb after the 2020 earthquake. The most affected being urban units and architecture that have significantly determined the European identity of Zagreb, and their irreversible change means the loss of tangible evidence of the city’s development and its inclusion in contemporary European architectural and urban trends.
The book will be available for purchase at a promotional price at the launch.
We look forward to your arrival!
