Tamara Bjažić Klarin participated in a National Information Day of ERC

On Wednesday, 10 December 2025, the National and University Library in Zagreb hosted the National Information Day of the European Research Council (ERC), organized by the Ministry of Science, Education and Youth of the Republic of Croatia, the Agency for Mobility and EU Projects, and the European Research Council Executive Agency (ERCEA).

The programme was opened by Dr Hrvoje Meštrić, Director of the Directorate for Science and Technology, on behalf of the Minister of Science, Education and Youth. In addition to congratulating all previous recipients of these prestigious grants, he extended special congratulations to Dr Karin Doolan of the Institute for Social Research in Zagreb, who had just been awarded an ERC Consolidator Grant. The opening remarks were followed by an Academician Milena Žic Fuchs, a long-standing member of the ERC Scientific Council. Dr Martin Penny, Head of Communications at the ERCEA, then provided a detailed presentation of the structure of ERC, the application process, and the specific features of the various funding schemes.

The event was attended by a number of previous ERC grant recipients, who shared their valuable experiences with participants and provided strong encouragement to Croatian researchers to engage more actively with the ERC. The panel on success stories and experiences with ERC applications featured, among other grant recipients, Academician Stipan Jonjić and Associate Professor Jadranka Šepić, as well as Dr Tamara Bjažić Klarin, Principal Investigator and head of the project Housing.Yu – The Right to Housing: the Production of Everyday Living Space in Yugoslavia (1945–1991), which is being carried out at the Institute of Art History from 2025 to 2030 (ERC-CoG No. 101171985).

The programme continued with presentations on the role and working methods of ERC evaluation panels. The national support system for the implementation of the programme was also presented, along with the Measures to Strengthen National Participation in EU Programmes. The programme concluded with parallel panels dedicated to different types of ERC grants, followed by a moderated discussion involving all participants.
