On Monday, 19 October 2026, the DAZ/UHA premises in Zagreb hosted the public conversation Housing Architecture in Croatia in the 1970s and 1980s, part of the Housing.Yu series Conversations with Contemporaries, organised by the Institute of Art History and the Croatian Architects’ Association. The participants were architects Višnja Cimić, Mladen Jošić, Đorđe Romić, Andrija Rusan and Benedetto Tardozzi, who designed housing blocks and estates in Zagreb, Sesvete, Slavonski Brod, Sisak, Zaprešić and Knin, and also engaged with housing architecture as editors and teachers. The conversation was moderated by Housing.Yu Principal Investigator Tamara Bjažić Klarin, Lidija Butković Mićin and Frano Petar Zovko.
The conversation refers back to the Conversation with the Protagonists of Modernism, held in the same space on 13 April 1976 with Vlado Antolić, Stjepan Planić, Zdenko Kolacio and other architects of Croatian modernism, and published at the time in the journal Arhitektura (no. 156–157, 1976).
The conversation also served as the opening event of the international conference Right to Housing: Projects, Policies, and Knowledge Exchange after the Second World War, which will take place from 22 to 24 October 2026 in the Small Hall of the Public Open University Zagreb.
The activity is part of the project Housing.Yu – The Right to Housing: The Production of Everyday Living Space in Yugoslavia (1945–1991), supported by the European Research Council (ERC-CoG No. 101171985).
